Dark Star: Single Released 09/09/2025
Like Destination X, following a DARK STAR takes you on a fantastic journey, driving through Post Punk and Britpop whilst picking up clues of best suited playlists en route.
Adam’s Juggernaut of a song powers along with a nod to The Stranglers and new Psychedelia but still contains the trademark vocal harmonies which have come to define the MHDC sound
No Logos No Labels: Single Released 16/05/2025
“ I’m feeling unstable cause I ain’t got enough designer labels”
Is the prominence of Logos & Labels in modern life unsettling and annoying ?
You know the people who just must have the latest product only because of the designer name.
Or is a nice familiar logo comforting with its promise of consistency and assurance of quality?
This Alternative Rock song powers along with a distinctive guitar riff, MHDC trademark harmony vocals, and flute, weaving in and out and along with the melody.
Lyrically, being branded like cattle, running naked (except for designer trainers!) and shunning 3 for 2 offers are some of the humorous/serious themes explored in the song. And yes, we do have a new logo !
Trifle Filled Skies: Single Released 07/02/2025
Written on the Ray Davies songwriting course.
Two hours wandering around the Devon countryside inspired Grant to write the poetic lyrics of the verses but the chorus
was inspired by sunlight streaming through stunning cloud formations at dusk.
Ray was impressed and thought it sounded like The Move .
The recording with layered vocal harmonies, catchy flute, jangly guitars, bass and drums gives it a more modern sound.
Like King Gizzard the Lizard Wizard; you could call it Neo- Psychedelia.

Rose Of New York: Single Released 17/11/2024
Greedy gold diggers are guided by spirits to find treasure in this nearly true story recounted by MHDC’s very own KeyTone, aka Jeremy Colthup. His voice, snarls and twists as he vibrantly unveils the tale, with a hint of Nick Cave and Tom Waits.
It’s a catchy 19th century midwinter fireside story of lust, avarice, gold and “The Devil Inside”, perfect for the holiday season.
Musically, it relentlessly powers on with drums, bass, guitars, growling vocal harmonies from the townsfolk of Rose Valley
and a duel between wind instruments, with flute and harmonica, trading punches and vying for the listeners attention.
The rock flute is definitely knocking on Jethro Tull’s door; can you hear us, Ian Anderson ?
DR JEKYLL & MR HYDE : cw: HALLO HALLOWEEN-
Double Single released 25/10/2024
Having Parkinson’s has certainly given Grant something to write about. One minute he’s stiff as a board, the next he’s whirling around like a Dervish! These two extremes inspired him to write a feel good on the outside, darker on the inside song which has a Syd Barrett/Talking Heads feel.
Romping along like a slightly out of control horse, it still manages to win the race with the descending/ascending anthemic chorus and even a chanting round to join in with near the end.
“Which one makes you run and hide am I Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?”
.
HALLO HALLOWEEN
A song scary with a smile, in the vein of Spooky Scary Skeletons by Andrew Gold. This Halloween party tune has singing children, dances to learn and dressing up to be done.
